Release Notes for IDS NXT OS 1.3
Introduction ⇑
These release notes describe the changes of the IDS NXT OS 1.3 which adds new features, e.g. support of multiple ROIs (regions of interest), support of heatmaps for classifications, encrypted upload of HTTPS certificates, or upload of images to a FTP server.

New and changed functions
- Multiple ROIs (region-of interest)
With the new ROI management, you can define multiple regions of interest in the camera. You can download or upload the ROI configuration as an XML file. All functions can be done in the IDS NXT cokpit or via the REST interface of the camera.
The format of the ROI configuration file is based on the Pascal VOC format. Instead of xMin, xMax, yMin and yMax, the center of the ROI is specified with cx (center X) and cy (center Y) as well as w (width), h (height) and (rotation) angle.
- Heatmaps are supported for CNN trained for classification. In this case, the vision app Classifier (from version 1.3.7 on) additionally displays a heatmap image. The display of heatmaps affects the frame rate of the camera.
- It is possible to upload unencrypted HTTPS certificates as ZIP archives, as the upload in IDS NXT cockpit itself is encrypted.
- You can set up an FTP client in the camera. If you evaluate images with a vision app, for example, error images can be transferred to the FTP server for further analysis. XML files with additional information are also transferred for each image.
The format of the XML information file is based on the Pascal VOC format. Instead of xMin, xMax, yMin and yMax, the center of the ROI is specified with cx (center X) and cy (center Y) as well as w (width), h (height) and (rotation) angle.
- An additional display for the result display of evaluations has been implemented: Result highlight. This makes it possible to highlight them in the IDS NXT cockpit (from version 2.3.0 on), e.g. as shown in Classifier 1.3.7.
- It is possible to have a website for each vision app to display results in a simple way. The website uses the REST interface to receive the results from the camera.
- You can activate various sensor test images for the camera via the REST interface.
General improvements
- For a more fine adjustment of the color gain, the values have been changed from Integere to Double.
- Internally, the memory consumption of vision apps and programs is monitored. If the memory usage of e.g. a vision app is too high, it will be restarted and an entry in the logbook will be created.
- A size limit has been introduced for REST queries. Exceptions are requests that transfer files such as the avatar image or SSL certificates.
Bug fixes
- Fixed various bugs in the REST interface, such as unclear descriptions or unused options.
- Fixed a bug that could cause an invalid network configuration to be set.
- Fixed a bug in the settings of the time server (NTP) configuration.
- Fixed a bug that the camera settings were not saved after installing/uninstalling vision apps.
- Fixed a bug that was caused by an empty result lists of a vision app.
- Fixed a bug that caused non-square images to be scaled incorrectly.
Status: 2021-10-31
Known issues
- If vision apps use formatted or "highlighted" results, the vision app OPC UA Server version 1.2.0 is required. Multi-ROIs configurations are also only supported from version 1.2.0 on.
- The vision app CNN manager is not supported on IDS NXT OS 1.3 or higher.
- The maximum frame rate in freerun mode cannot be achieved while the IDS NXT cockpit is running.
